About The Position

The MUSC College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Graduate Practice Program (GPP), with a focus on the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated FNP to join a collaborative academic community committed to preparing the next generation of advanced practice nurses. The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s teaching mission through didactic, clinical, and student-centered instruction in the MSN and DNP programs. This position is ideal for an FNP who is passionate about primary care, graduate nursing education, innovation in teaching, and supporting students as they grow into confident, practice-ready nurse practitioners. The faculty member will also maintain clinical practice as an FNP as part of the faculty role. Upon hire, the successful candidate is expected to relocate to the Charleston, South Carolina area.

Requirements

  • An earned master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Eligibility for South Carolina APRN licensure.
  • Current national certification as an FNP.
  • At least two years of APRN practice experience in primary care or a related setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student success, professional collaboration, and excellence in advanced practice nursing education.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
  • MSN-prepared candidates must enroll in a doctoral program or begin a DNP or PhD program within the first two years of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating engaging, asynchronous/limited sychronous online learning experiences for MSN and DNP students.
  • Implementing innovative, competency-based teaching strategies that promote student learning and clinical reasoning.
  • Participating in on-campus learning intensives on days not assigned to clinical practice.
  • Collaborating with faculty teams to implement, evaluate, and strengthen curriculum in alignment with contemporary graduate nursing education standards.
  • Supporting ongoing curriculum review, quality improvement, and mapping to the AACN Essentials for Nursing Education.
  • Serving as course coordinator or contributing faculty, as assigned.
  • Maintaining clear and timely communication with students, course coordinators, faculty colleagues, and program leadership.
  • Engaging in professional FNP practice in primary care or a related field as part of the faculty contract, with a minimum of 20% effort, or 8 hours per week.
  • Precepting MUSC College of Nursing APRN students in the clinical practice setting.
  • Maintaining all required FNP credentials, licensure, and national certifications.
  • Developing and maintaining a record of scholarship through dissemination, presentations, publications, and other activities consistent with College appointment, promotion, and tenure guidelines.
  • Supervising APRN students in clinical settings, reviewing clinical documentation, evaluating clinical progress, and communicating with preceptors.
  • Facilitating DNP scholarly project work, as assigned.
  • Participating in course, program, and College meetings in person or through web-based technology.
  • Adhering to MUSC College of Nursing policies and expectations.
  • Maintaining ongoing proficiency as both an educator and clinician.
  • Supporting a College culture grounded in respect, equity, belonging, collaboration, and professional excellence.
