The Southeast Asia Initiative is seeking a Faculty Director to manage the initiative for the AY 2026-2027, with a possibility to continue for a second year. This is an internal search within the Barefield College of Arts and Sciences (BCAS). The Director will report to the BCAS Dean and must be a full-time faculty member with teaching and research responsibilities in any of the BCAS Departments. The role involves supporting and managing trips to collaborate with faculty and students at partner institutions in Thailand and Vietnam. Responsibilities include planning travel for faculty (including pre-trip orientation), purchasing flights, planning itineraries, and managing financial, legal, and diplomatic aspects of trips. The Director will also assist with planning itineraries, events, and travel for faculty and students from partner universities visiting UA. BCAS initiated the Southeast Asia Initiative in 2024 to foster research and educational collaborations between BCAS faculty and students and universities in Vietnam and Thailand. The Director must collaborate with the UA Office of Research for export control compliance and the UA Capstone International Center for international risk management and travel safety. They will also liaise with international relations heads and faculty at partner institutions, communicate trips to faculty, oversee participant selection, and manage follow-up activities such as reports, speaker series, and website maintenance.
