Primary Purpose: Provides the highest quality education to students in the counselor education programs, including but not limited to teaching, supervision, mentoring, and advising. Engages in scholarly work, including research. Contributes to both the community and the university through service activities.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with classroom management software (e.g., Canvas, Watermark, Zoom).
  • Licensed or License-eligible as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida.
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education (or were full time faculty in a Counselor Education program prior to July 1, 2013) or ABD.
  • Doctoral degree must be earned and conferred by date of hire.
  • Teaching and related experience; teaching graduate-level coursework in Counselor Education.
  • Provision of Clinical Supervision experience.
  • Clinical experience as a professional counselor.
  • Research experience and/or a record of scholarly publications.
  • Leadership and engagement in relevant professional counseling organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or eligible for certification with NBCC.
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes (e.g., CACREP, CAEP).
  • Effective leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches graduate classes in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
  • Supervises students in clinical mental health counseling practicum and internship field placements.
  • Engages in research and scholarship, including generating publications, professional presentations, and grant writing.
  • Provides service to the community and the counseling profession by participating in local, state, an national associations' events, conferences, and committee/board work.
  • Fulfills service responsibilities to the department, college, and university.
  • Provides advisement and mentoring to students in the counseling programs.
  • Utilizes technology in teaching and supervision.
  • Participates in preparation for accreditation (e.g., CACREP) reviews and university-level program reviews.
  • Works in collaboration with other colleagues in the Department of Counseling and in the College of Psychology and community partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
