About The Position

Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) is seeking a highly qualified educator with broad training and demonstrated experience or enthusiasm for teaching in a medical school curriculum. This position is a tenure track, 12-month appointment on the Macon, Georgia campus. Additional duties will be required/assigned during the summer. The departmental assignment will be based on degree type and experience. For over thirty years, MUSM has focused on training medical students to fulfill MUSM’s mission of preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and underserved Georgia residents and communities. Emphasizing interactive and problem-based teaching strategies, our student-centered faculty provides a conceptual and practical foundation that equips graduates to be discerning consumers and innovative producers of knowledge across a variety of medical and community settings, as well as academic institutions. Through teaching, scholarship, and service, students and faculty work closely to have local, regional, national, and international impact.

Requirements

Hold a Ph.D. or DrPH in Epidemiology, Population Heath, Health Promotions, or a related clinical health field.
Have experience with extramural grant support, statistical design, and analysis.
Experience using qualitative and quantitative methods and with linking and working with large datasets.
Familiarity with longitudinal data analysis.
Experience working as part of a team.
Ability to work well with others and design and supervise research projects, publish, and contribute to efforts to obtain extramural funding.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience presenting and communicating technical and statistical concepts to clinicians, policy makers, and lay audiences.
Familiarity and/or experience with rural health.
Teaching graduate or medical students

Responsibilities

Analyzing and interpreting health-related research data
Teaching, advising, mentoring, and supervising medical and graduate students
Developing research ideas and proposals
Collaborating with investigators on study design and data analysis
Publishing scholarly work
Fostering partnerships with researchers, community organizations, and agencies
Serving on research committees
Pursuing extramural funding opportunities
Supporting medical student research and other academic initiatives to advance the School of Medicine's research mission
Participate broadly across the curricula in both the medical and graduate programs
Engage in scholarship in areas of biomedical science, medical education, or community-oriented research
Serve on departmental, school-wide, or other committees as designated
