About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking a full-time Faculty member for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at its traditional ground campus in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves providing program instruction with innovative teaching methodologies and incorporating current industry trends. The university is looking for individuals passionate about teaching in modern facilities with smaller class sizes, who can collaborate across colleges and with industry leaders to promote human flourishing. The position is based on the Main Campus in Phoenix, AZ, with in-person instruction.

Requirements

• Must have an earned doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program; OR a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013; OR have been employed as a full-time doctoral-level faculty member in a CORE-accredited master’s program prior to July 1, 2017; OR have graduated from a rehabilitation doctoral program prior to January 1, 2018.
• Independently licensed as a professional counselor
• Maintain an active membership to a recognized professional counseling association (American Counseling Association, ACA preferred).
• Outstanding communication skills and the ability to successfully adapt to an e-learning environment.
• Availability to provide 24-hour turnaround responses to student questions and concerns.
• Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format, and work in an e-learning environment with students on a daily basis.
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

• Has experience conducting research or scholarly related activities.
• Has experience in professional service and advocacy in the counseling field
• Knowledgeable about CACREP standards
• At least one year of experience teaching ground courses

Responsibilities

• Teaches one or more subjects within prescribed curriculum.
• Prepares and delivers lectures to students.
• Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
• Stimulates class discussions.
• Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
• Remains current with new trends and development in his/her field of expertise.
• Student classroom load will be assigned based upon teaching qualifications and demonstrated classroom facilitation.
