About The Position

The School of Applied Sciences and Arts within the College of Integrative Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University is seeking applications to establish a pool for Social Science Faculty Associates for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Social Science (Sociology, Political Science, or other Social Science courses as needed), preparing class materials, evaluating student work, and holding office hours to assist students. These positions are one-semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of 0.40 FTE per semester. The number of courses assigned will depend on unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary will be determined by qualifications and assigned teaching load. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Sociology, Political Science or a related science field at time of appointment
  • Ability to teach in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously)
  • Demonstrated commitment to values expressed by the ASU Charter

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal Degree in Social Science or related field at time of appointment
  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Two semesters teaching experience in a post-secondary environment
  • Experience teaching in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously) and with online homework systems

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Social Science (Sociology, Political Science, or other Social Science courses as needed)
  • Prepare class materials
  • Evaluate student work
  • Hold office hours to assist students
  • Plan and create lectures, class discussions, and assignments
  • Deliver excellent in-class instruction
  • Answer emails and other communications from students in a timely manner
  • Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
  • Provide timely and substantive feedback on student assessments
  • Post grades prior to ASU deadlines
