About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in collaboration with the University of Maryland Medical System, is seeking a Tele-Neurologist to provide consultative coverage for Shore Regional Health on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (Easton, MD). This is a fully remote, work-from-home position offering a unique opportunity to support rural health while maintaining excellent work-life balance. Residents from the following states would be considered: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, & Maryland. This position offers a volunteer faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Neurology.

Requirements

Doctoral degree in Medicine in area of specialty
3-5 years of clinical experience
CPR required
BLS required
ACLS and/or other relevant certification as required by the department
Board certification/eligibility in area of specialty
Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, and/or publishing
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific need
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, patient’s families, departmental units, and medical and nursing staff on all essential matters

Responsibilities

Provide general neurology consults via telemedicine
Coverage hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with overnight consultative calls handled telephonically
No in-house responsibilities
No acute stroke or neurocritical care coverage required
Supported by advanced practice providers (APPs) who assist with consult coordination, follow-up care, and discharge planning
Daily workflow includes morning tele-rounds followed by consult coverage throughout the day
Schedule: 26 weeks per year
Performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide examination and treatment of patients.
Orders and analyzes appropriate tests and procedures to provide information on patient’s condition; and other duties as assigned.
