About The Position

Stanford University seeks candidates for a faculty position in Korean Studies, with a preference for those in social science of contemporary Korea or its international relations. The successful candidate will be expected to advance research and education on Korea, in the Korea Program of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC). The new faculty member will be appointed as freestanding Center Fellow in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI), affiliated with APARC. Center Fellows at Stanford University are typically the equivalent rank to assistant professor. They are members of the Professoriate and the Academic Council, eligible to serve as principal investigators, and accrue sabbatical. Center Fellows are appointed for a renewable fixed term of years with the possibility of review for promotion to Senior Fellow.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) at the time of the appointment.
• Curriculum vitae with complete bibliography.
• Research statement (up to 2 pages).
• Statement of teaching interests (1 page).
• Up to three examples of scholarly publications.
• Cover letter.
• Provide the names of three references.
