We are seeking an experienced and motivated Factory Operations Manager to oversee the front-side processing operations of our GaN semiconductor wafer fabrication facility. The ideal candidate will provide strong operational leadership, deliver productivity improvements, drive capacity expansion, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure all aspects of operational safety. Additionally, this role will be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence and quality throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 12 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Prior Management or Leadership experience in Semiconductor, Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Production, and/or Quality.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Familiarity with automation and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt).
  • Strong project management skills to oversee capacity expansion and equipment integration projects.
  • Proven success in operational leadership, capacity expansion, and implementing productivity improvements.
  • Strong expertise in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5S, and other methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and other related software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the front-side processing functions, ensuring efficient and effective operations to meet production schedules and business goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance manufacturing performance, improve cycle times, and achieve production targets.
  • Act as a key liaison between production, engineering, quality, and leadership teams to ensure alignment and operational success.
  • Identify and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, optimize production workflows, and minimize downtime.
  • Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the facility.
  • Plan and execute initiatives to expand wafer fab capacity, including the procurement and integration of new tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and facilities teams to ensure seamless execution of expansion projects within set timelines and budgets.
  • Develop strategies to maximize equipment utilization and throughput while maintaining quality standards.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset by implementing lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen.
  • Conduct process improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and enhance overall operational performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and address process inefficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, standards, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety training, audits, and risk assessments, and address any identified safety concerns.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, empowering employees to prioritize safety in all operational activities.
  • Oversee the onboarding and training of new employees to ensure proper understanding of processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement training programs to improve employee skills, encourage teamwork, and support career development.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes employee engagement and retention.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of high-quality standards across all aspects of the front-side processing operations.
  • Partner with quality teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor quality metrics and implement proactive measures to address any quality challenges.
