About The Position

Siemens Mobility, Rolling Stock Division, is seeking an entry-level Factory Commissioning Test Technician for their passenger railcar manufacturing facility in Lexington, NC. This role involves commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing next-generation light rail, locomotives, and coaches. The company is willing to train and support growth in this position. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or GED)
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical testing
  • Proficient in electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Ability to lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include: Close and distance vision, Color differentiation, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, Ability to adjust focus
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment when required
  • Job duties may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands to handle objects or tools
  • Frequent verbal communication is necessary; occasional tasks may involve detecting odors
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or mechatronics program education or similar preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and mechanical commissioning on locomotive and coach cars.
  • Troubleshoot, document, and repair electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Work with state-of-the-art diagnostic test equipment.
  • Understand and comply with company and industry safety standards.
  • Communicate technical information, job procedure recommendations, and other work-related information verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently and as part of a team with multi-disciplinary backgrounds.
  • Read, interpret, and understand written or electronic schematics.
  • Use PTU’s to troubleshoot various systems onboard light rail, locomotive, and coach vehicles.
