About The Position

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Program Team Lead to support our Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) team. The FACT program provides intensive, time-limited services to clients most impacted by serious mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders. Clients typically remain with the program for 6–12 months, receiving most services in their homes or other community settings, before transitioning to Adult Outpatient services. The Program Team Lead plays a critical role in coaching staff, coordinating care, conducting outreach, and ensuring the highest quality of services for clients with complex needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mental Health Counseling or acceptable social sciences or must meet waiver criteria of RCW 71.24.260.
  • One year working as a Mental Health Professional as defined by RCW 71.05.020, Clinical Supervisor, or Team Lead in an outpatient or inpatient mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or meet needs of clinical caseload and ability to collaborate as part of a clinical team serving clients with psychosis.
  • Must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor License or higher.
  • Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined by current Washington State requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in ProACT and other required agency safety trainings.
  • Maintain knowledge of KMHS programs and eligibility guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of evidence based practices for clients experiencing psychosis and interventions for those at risk for suicidal behavior.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  • Proficient with computers and able to concurrently enter data into an electronic medical record with speed and accuracy while speaking with consumers face-to-face or over the telephone.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Willingness and ability to consult with supervisors in timely way when encountering clinical scenarios beyond the limits of one’s clinical competencies/knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate team meetings to review client progress, share updates, and guide care planning.
  • Provide effective and efficient clinical services using best-practice standards.
  • Complete and assist staff with Less Restrictive Alternative (LRA) notes and extension requests.
  • Represent the FACT team in Mental Health Court proceedings.
  • Ensure timely, accurate agency documentation.
  • Assist the manager with scheduling, training, and addressing operational challenges.
  • Provide coaching to staff on client engagement strategies and proactive interventions.
  • Complete initial treatment plans, psychosocial summaries, and scheduling coordination for new admissions.
  • Participate in dual outreaches as a safe second when clinically indicated.
  • Deliver immediate therapeutic crisis interventions and facilitate referrals as needed.
  • Screen for co-occurring conditions, ensuring referrals to internal and external resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of KMHS outpatient and 24/7 services to support client transitions.
  • Serve as point of contact for 24/7 units, outpatient teams, and medical assistants.
  • Advise manager on operational needs such as supplies or equipment.
