About The Position

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of commercial warehouse facilities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and fully operational building systems, supporting daily warehouse operations and long-term asset preservation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in commercial building maintenance, industrial facilities, or a related trade.
  • Prior experience in warehouse, distribution center, or logistics facility environments strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems (up to 480V), plumbing, and building mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with dock leveler and overhead door maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and basic computer proficiency (email, work order software).
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs individually or 75 lbs as a team
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces or at heights for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions including extreme heat, cold, and outdoor weather.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work on rooftops and elevated platforms safely.
  • Must be able to travel out of state as required for facility support and project assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 Refrigerant Certification preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; must be willing to obtain if not already held.
  • Forklift / aerial lift certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems throughout warehouse facilities.
  • Conduct regular building inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and code compliance issues; document and report findings.
  • Respond to maintenance service requests and emergency repairs in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Repair and maintain dock equipment including dock levelers, dock doors, dock seals, and overhead doors.
  • Maintain and service warehouse lighting systems, including LED fixtures, ballasts, and exterior parking lot lighting.
  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, patching, flooring repairs, and general building upkeep as needed.
  • Monitor and manage building management systems (BMS) and report anomalies to the Facilities Manager.
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors and vendors performing specialized maintenance or repair work on-site.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order records, and equipment service history using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local fire codes, and all applicable safety regulations; participate in safety inspections and audits.
  • Assist with tenant improvement projects, move-in/move-out inspections, and capital improvement work as directed.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies; track and replenish stock as needed.
  • Perform snow removal and grounds upkeep as required by seasonal and site conditions.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
