About The Position

This position, within the General Services Administration Department, leads two teams including the Controlled Systems team and The Portfolio Team. Key responsibilities include managing the Computerized Maintenance Management System, Computer Aided Facility Management System, Fleet Information System, Telematics System, Fuel Management Systems, Parking and Revenue Control System, and other GSA systems and IT infrastructure. The General Services Administration (GSA) manages Wake County owned and leased facilities, the Wake County fleet, provides criminal justice support, and supports many General Government business units. GSA is dedicated to ensuring safe, productive work environments and safe, reliable vehicles for our customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology and Facility Management or related field
  • Three years of job related experience
  • A valid driver's license and "safe" driving record
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience in database querying and administration; application management; database reporting; controlled systems; operations and planning
  • 2 years of experience as a supervisor
  • Microsoft or other IT certifications
  • Experience in SQL Server, FM Systems, Facility/Fleet Management Software, Maximo, Power BI
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals from system admins and network engineers to space planners and CAFM experts

Responsibilities

  • Lead 2 teams of IT and space management professionals, including space planners, network engineers, system administrators, and report writers for various systems.
  • Gain understanding of facility related controlled systems and the end users’ operational practices to provide proactive support to the end user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with all departments and divisions to ensure Wake County GSA systems effectively support their operational needs. This includes coordinating system integrations, enabling shared asset‑management capabilities, and identifying opportunities to maximize the value and functionality of GSA systems across County operations.
  • Provide technological guidance for facility management systems to GSA and its respective divisions.
  • Forecast and plan upgrades for critical GSA IT systems and interfaces (including work order management systems, Computer Aided Facility Management Systems and various other facility related system packages).
  • Plan, test and implement software and hardware upgrades and version updates to various control systems.
  • Develop and provide reports to users on regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Work with vendors in researching and recommending new products and troubleshooting software problems or questions.
  • Serve as liaison between vendors, departments, teams, and users to allow timely and efficient project conclusions.
  • Manage large projects related to system/software changes and upgrades. This will include managing the RFQ process to determine system upgrades, selecting appropriate systems, and managing the implementation of these systems, considering minimal impact to stakeholders that rely on these systems for their day-to-day workflow.
