About The Position

The purpose of this class within the organization is to supervise the comprehensive year-round services of the recreation facility, including programs and operations. Specialized venues include aquatics, athletics, fitness/wellness, cultural arts, youth development, senior services and community outreach, as well as playgrounds, indoor and outdoor facilities and park grounds within the Recreation Department.

Requirements

• Requires a bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
• Requires four (4) years of supervisory experience in the management and operations of a recreational facility and its related programs.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the operational aspects of the recreational center with responsibility to the safety and function of the facility and surrounding support facilities and programs, such as athletics, aquatics, fitness/wellness, cultural arts, youth development, senior services, and community outreach.
• Duties are performed under the supervision of the assigned Superintendent or Assistant Director; however, independent leadership and on-site management of the facility and its staff are required.
• Supervises daily operations including opening and closing the facility; ensures the facility and its programs are safe and functioning properly.
• Assists in the management of budgetary and purchasing matters in accordance with City and department policy and is accountable for program expenditures and revenue production.
• Assesses needs of patrons; evaluates programs and the facility and parks on a regular basis; implements necessary improvements.
• Invokes discipline and enforces all departmental policies to ensure safe and proper conduct is maintained in the facility.
• Effectively supervises a tiered and specialized staff.
• Forms and maintains community partnerships to affect value-added services, specialty programs, and to facilitate inclusive opportunities.
• Performs other work as assigned.
