About The Position

This Austin Energy position plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable facilities that support daily operations across the utility. The role performs routine building repairs and assists with construction and installation activities on assigned projects. It includes conducting site inspections to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns, and providing clear, timely reports on findings. The position works closely with contractors, vendors, and internal divisions to coordinate repairs, maintenance services, and building moves to ensure projects are completed successfully. Responsibilities also include compiling data, preparing cost estimates, and maintaining accurate project status reports. The role monitors lease agreements and maintenance, installation, and construction contracts to ensure compliance and timely execution. Additionally, it involves researching information as needed and providing responsive customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to directly support Austin Energy’s mission by helping maintain high‑quality facilities for employees and the community.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years relevant work experience.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
  • Class C Driver License.
  • Ability to bend, lift, walk, carry, or use a force equal to lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA license or TDLR registered or the ability to obtain one of these credentials within six (6) months of hire.
  • Experience with Building Automation System.
  • Experience planning and performing basic building repairs on commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Experience conducting site inspections and reporting maintenance needs or safety violations.
  • Experience coordinating work with contractors, vendors, or other divisions providing maintenance repairs.
  • Experience monitoring lease agreements, maintenance contracts, equipment installation contracts or construction contracts.
  • Experience responding to questions from internal and external customers regarding facilities or maintenance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and performs basic building repairs and participates in construction/installation activities on assigned projects.
  • Conducts site inspections and reports on maintenance needs and safety violations.
  • Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and other divisions providing maintenance, repairs, and moves to assigned buildings.
  • Calculates figures and compiles data and information for reports, cost estimates, etc.
  • Prepares and maintains status reports on projects.
  • Monitors lease agreements, maintenance contracts, equipment installation contracts, and construction contracts.
  • Researches information as requested or needed.
  • Answers questions from internal and external customers.
