The Facility Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining industrial and physical security programs in support of facility clearance requirements. This role oversees personnel security processes, ensures compliance with government regulations, and supports the organization’s overall security posture through policy development, audits, and program administration. Domestic travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of industrial security practices and government contracting requirements, including NAVSEA Standard Items (e.g., SI 009-72)
  • Ability to manage sensitive information, investigate security incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Strong understanding of government security databases and clearance processing systems
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMSNA and have high values for safety awareness
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 3 Years of Facility Security Officer (FSO) or 5 Years of Assistant FSO experience required.
  • Experience in an industrial or government contracting environment preferred
  • Must obtain and maintain an active security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer facility security clearance (FCL) requirements, including personnel security clearances, visit requests, and compliance with government regulations
  • Oversee and maintain security programs within government systems such as DISS, NBIS, SWFT, NISS, e-FCL, and SPOT, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation
  • Prepare for and support security audits, inspections, and assessments, including DCSA reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enforce security policies, including ITAR, CUI, and insider threat program requirements, while providing training and guidance to employees
  • Other duties as assigned
