Facility Quality Assurance Supervisor (Product Safety)
About The Position
The Facility Quality Assurance Supervisor (Product Safety) is responsible for implementing, managing, and improving the factory Food Safety Management System (FSMS) to ensure the production of safe, high-quality products. The supervisor coordinates factory food safety programs and ensures they comply with applicable guidelines. The role oversees sanitation standards and pest activity throughout the factory, and guides employee training and knowledge to promote food safety practices. The position is based at Nestlé Purina’s Allentown factory, which uses thermal processing and high-speed canning to produce Friskies®, Beneful®, and Pro Plan® products. The factory describes efforts to conserve water, invest in renewable electricity, and maintain zero waste for disposal.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, the military, or a related environment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in manufacturing, the military, or a related environment.
- Must be willing to obtain a Pesticide Applicator and Qualified Pesticide Supervisor Certification.
Responsibilities
- Monitor pest activity, identify and implement corrective actions, and plan pest control methods and heat treatments.
- Lead and direct factory sanitary processes, working with engineering and maintenance on sanitary equipment design and modifications before and during installation.
- Provide direction, coaching, and performance reviews for product safety department employees and contractors.
- Communicate with plant and department managers about product safety area statistics and needs.
- Ensure factory food safety programs comply with regulatory and Nestlé Purina guidelines.
- Ensure Foreign Material Prevention and Detection devices are inspected and controlled according to corporate Foreign Material Control Guidelines.
- Guide training and knowledge-sharing throughout the factory to promote food safety practices.
