About The Position

Performs intermediate technical work supervising the senior center. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Active Living Program Supervisor. This position requires a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Employees will work 25 hours per week, with schedules varying based on operational needs, programs, events, and departmental activities.

Requirements

• General knowledge of the operation of the senior center
• General knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation planning, programming and operations
• Ability to maintain order in a public facility
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, associates and the general public
• Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school
• Some experience in organized senior citizen programs and/or facility management preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and supervising activities at the senior center
• Scheduling activities
• Maintaining records and files
• Preparing reports
• Supervising participants utilizing senior center and facilities
• Enforcing center policies
• Maintaining order
• Planning, directing and supervising center programs
• Scheduling center users for special events and programs
• Preparing centers for workshops, classes and special events
• Responding to inquiries and assisting senior center visitors
• Inspecting equipment for condition and safety
• Issuing center equipment and maintaining proper inventories
• Monitoring equipment use at the center
• Implementing special events and/or assisting Program Coordinator in such work
• Collecting and receipting fees collected
• Providing basic custodial services
• Opening and securing senior center before and after events and activities
• Performing related tasks as required
