About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for a full-time Facility Operator for the Afternoon Shift to support operations in Hamilton, ON. The Facility Operator will report to the Operations Supervisor and will be responsible for daily operations including completing production reports and paperwork, and manually or mechanically consolidating household hazardous waste such as paint, stain, solvents, cleaners, and aerosols.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Must be able to read and identify labels on containers of waste to determine hazard characteristics
Must be able to write in a clear and legible manner
Must have access to reliable transportation to get to and from work on a daily basis. The facility is located on a bus route
Must possess good verbal communication skills
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

Forklift License is an asset
Previous experience handling chemicals is an asset
Previous experience in an industrial setting is an asset

Responsibilities

Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine
Perform physical labour by lifting containers up to 20L in size
Complete production reports and paperwork
Participate in company supplied training
Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily production goals
Work safely at all times
Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Other duties as assigned
