About The Position

The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a temporary full-time Facility Operator for the Wasaga Stars Arena for a 2-to-3-month contract to cover for an operator's leave of absence. The successful candidate will be responsible for learning the operations of the Wasaga Stars Arena, Wasaga Beach Public Library, and other municipally owned facilities. This role requires general knowledge of facility cleaning, ice maintenance, general repairs, and building maintenance. The Wasaga Stars Arena operates seven days a week from 7 am to 12 midnight. The candidate must be able to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be available for overtime on short notice. Facility staff work a nine-hour schedule and rotate weekends off. The role requires the ability to work independently in different facility areas (cold and warm sides) and as part of a team to support all Town facilities.

Requirements

Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
Proof of an unrestricted valid class “G2” Ontario Drivers License (minimum).
Previous experience and proven ability to perform ice maintenance duties.
Previous experience with facility maintenance, repairs, and janitorial duties.
Physically able to perform all duties of this physically active position, including heavy lifting and indoor/outdoor work in all conditions.
Good understanding of Safe Operating Procedures for power tools and associated facility maintenance equipment.
Good organizational and decision-making skills.
Ability to provide a current, acceptable Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) if hired.
Proven ability to deal with the public and other staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, and overtime on short notice as required.

Nice To Haves

A Basic Refrigeration certificate would be an asset.
Standard First Aid certification, CPR, Defibrillator, and WHIMIS training is also a benefit.

Responsibilities
