About The Position

The Facility Nurse Educator (RN) is responsible for assessing the orientation and continuing education needs of the nursing team. This role involves developing and conducting facility-specific orientation programs for both licensed and non-licensed nursing staff, including facilitating 30-day new employee orientation and 90-day reunion sessions to support service excellence initiatives. The educator designs programs to enhance nursing practice and ensure compliance with licensure and certification requirements. They also coordinate with Nurse Managers for student placements, orientation, and preceptorships for undergraduate and graduate students, utilizing adult education principles in planning, designing, and implementing educational activities.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the applicable state required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a related area required (e.g., Operating Room (OR), Emergency Room (ER), or Acute Care)
  • Current BLS certification required in accordance with policy guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
  • Specialty certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to assess needs for orientation and continuing education needs for nursing team.
  • Develops and conducts facility specific orientation for licensed and non-licensed nursing team.
  • Facilitates 30 day new employee orientation and 90 day reunion sessions as part of the facility service excellence initiatives.
  • Designs programs that enhance the practice of nursing; assists the learner to comply with licensure and certification requirements.
  • Coordinates with Nurse Managers to place students, orient students, and organize preceptorships for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Utilizes adult education principles, plans, designs, and implements educational activities based on identified learning needs.
  • Works as a program Planner.
  • Assesses learning needs through direct observation, formal needs assessment, and program evaluation or other organizational activity reports.
