About The Position

The Facility Monitor primarily oversees the Republic Community Center during early morning hours, acting as the main greeter. This role also involves assisting with the 100 Mile Walking Club records and serving as a backup for opening and closing the Senior Center for Sunday church and private rentals. The position reports directly to the Operations Coordinator and generally to the Recreation Superintendent.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer and software skills, specifically Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to memorize and retain information.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good cognitive and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of public contact.
  • General knowledge of standard secretarial office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to quickly assess or judge situations and make decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Overall professionalism displaying integrity, discretion, courtesy, cooperation, discipline, and behavior.
  • Must possess a valid Missouri State Driver’s License.
  • Must currently have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification upon hire.
  • Must be a dependable person due to the small size of the work force.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the Republic Community Center for opening at 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday by turning on lights, fans, music, television, unlocking doors, and moving directional signs.
  • Opens and closes the Republic Senior Center for private rentals in the absence of the Senior Center Facility Monitor.
  • Answers incoming calls for the Parks & Recreation Department, providing information on programs, events, and facility rentals.
  • Greets all incoming guests and provides requested information.
  • Monitors activity in the Community Center and Activities Building by regularly walking through facilities and enforcing rules.
  • Cleans areas of the Community Center as needed.
  • Reports major maintenance problems immediately to the Facility Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Assists with overseeing the 100 Mile Walking Club, keeping accurate participant records.
  • Communicates program rewards and achievements and assists with the end-of-year recognition breakfast.
  • Assists in preparing the facility for private rentals, including community room setup.
  • Assists citizens with gymnasium requests, such as setting up/taking down volleyball equipment and adjusting goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies for the assigned area.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
