About The Position

The Facility Mechanic is responsible for maintaining LESC buildings in good repair, including plumbing, electricity, and general facilities maintenance. This role involves identifying and repairing various maintenance issues, performing routine checks on safety equipment, and assisting with building operations. The position also includes supervisory duties and on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

NYS Driver’s License.
High School graduate, GED and/or Trade School Diploma
5 years experience in building maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, painting and electrical).
Must provide own hand tools.

Responsibilities

Identifies and repairs maintenance problems such as (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical).
Maintains air conditioners by cleaning filters and condensers monthly.
Checks smoke detectors, emergency lights and locks on fire exits to ensure that they are safe and operational monthly.
Changes fuses, light bulbs and ceiling tiles when required.
Unclogs drains, toilets and sinks.
Monitors oil and boiler temperature.
Uses meter to measure U.V. lighting.
Assists in conducting fire drills.
Sets up chairs, podium, TV/VCR, microphone and overhead projectors upon request.
Tags equipment of fixed assets as part of the inventory control program.
Monthly fire extinguisher inspection
Cleaning of snow and maintaining a safe walkway
Maintaining of garden / edging
Supervising of porter/handyman/cleaner
Provides on call 24- hour coverage.
Fills in for other facility mechanics and porters on leave as needed
Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
