About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I supports the maintenance and repair of facility systems and infrastructure under the guidance of Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. This role involves performing routine maintenance, assisting with repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 1-3 years in facility maintenance or a related field.
  • 1-3 years familiarity with basic hand tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate basic maintenance tools and equipment. (High proficiency)
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, construction, fire suppression systems and electrical systems. (Medium proficiency)
  • Skill in performing minor repairs and maintenance. (Medium proficiency)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office for documentation. (Low proficiency)
  • Ability to read basic diagrams and schematics. (Low proficiency)
  • Ability to use CMMS system. (Low proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training in maintenance, HVAC, or a related field (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, such as Fixing Floors, Walls, Ceilings, Doors, Windows, Facility Painting Installation and Cleaning of Drop Ceilings, Protective Tarping of Equipment, Replacing Lighting Bulbs and Tubelights, Clearing Drains and Basic Troubleshooting.
  • Assist in executing the facility's preventive maintenance schedule, including inspecting equipment and documenting findings: Main Doors, Rolling Doors, Docks, Windows Emergency Lights, Firefighting systems, and Ventilation systems operation.
  • Assist in monitoring building systems and infrastructure for signs of wear or repair needed, reporting findings to senior staff. Room HVAC Temperature Monitoring and GMP Room Differential Pressure Monitoring.
  • Provide hands-on assistance in maintaining HVAC units: Change Air Filters.
  • Support permit inspections by preparing areas for review and documenting findings to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to follow instructions, troubleshoot basic issues, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Perform general upkeep tasks such as basic carpentry work.
  • Maintain records of completed maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for tasks involving machinery or hazardous materials.
  • Support facility management as needed.
  • Work is performed indoors and occasionally outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Some duties may vary slightly by location.
