About The Position

The Facility Manager will have in-depth knowledge of Sonwil procedures & policies, capabilities, and customer requirements. They will be responsible for the P&L at the facility and be required to achieve performance levels based on objectives set by senior operations management on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. They will manage operations of the facility with the goal of achieving a high level of customer satisfaction while at the same time reducing operating costs within the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Five (5) years of Operations Management Experience.
  • Seven (7) years of warehouse experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Background with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications – Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Forklift Certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of site Profit/Loss responsibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain understanding of quality and service level requirements for all customers in the facility directly or indirectly.
  • Educate and ensure all staff are adhering to customer requirements.
  • As required, deal directly with the customer at meetings, on conference calls, exchanging of emails and webinars in support of the business relationship.
  • Effective communication of all customer-generated non-conformance to the quality manager as well as in-depth investigating and resolution for all corrective action requests provided to them.
  • Assist customer service with any customer specific issues that require operations involvement.
  • Evaluate changing customer requirements and effectively communicate changes in scope to sales and rate development for rate evaluations.
  • Foster effective relationships with customers and continually looking for new avenues of opportunity for Sonwil to provide additional services.
  • Assist sales with facility tours for existing or potential customers.
  • Attend all management meetings related to metric review.
  • Must meet or exceed metric goals set forth by senior management.
  • Updating performance boards.
  • Communicate performance to all levels of the facility.
  • Effectively manage equipment to ensure that all equipment is being utilized to an acceptable capacity and ensure that we have the correct equipment to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure all incidents related to facilities and equipment are investigated, documented, and brought to resolution.
  • Adhering to proper work order processes to ensure assets are being maintained effectively.
  • Ensure all facility systems are being inspected as required by state, federal, insurance, and Sonwil policies.
  • Ensure that required levels of supply inventory are maintained as to not incur any elevated expenses or experience service failures.
  • Ensure supply expenses are captured in customer rates or are being rebilled as appropriate.
  • Evaluate storage equipment weekly to ensure that there is no damage to mitigate risk to employee safety or customer product.
  • Validate that preventative maintenance on all Sonwil owned assets is being completed.
  • Develop and utilize a method to evaluate the current and next day’s workload requirements on a daily basis and evaluate all future peaks in workload requirements.
  • Ensure that we are appropriately staffed to meet all customer expected deliverables.
  • Manage daily overtime scheduling.
  • Responsible for administering Sonwil’s performance-based pay structure. Document, review and conduct monthly reviews with employees on performance.
  • Maintain a progressive disciplinary program and review all progressive disciplinary actions with the employee and their supervisor to foster an understanding of the issue, and the company’s detailed expectation for improvement.
  • Effectively resolve any employee related conflicts that escalate past supervisory levels with Human Resources input as required.
  • Manage employees at facility to ensure their tasks are being completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Document positive achievements that can be considered during evaluations and used for employee recognition.
  • Spend time on all shifts periodically or as requested by senior management to evaluate performance, understand challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate roles and responsibilities to facility staff, setting performance expectations/goals.
  • Identify lean initiatives on a monthly and yearly cycle and present them to senior management and other building managers. Goals for cost reduction will be established and will be required to be achieved.
  • Manage accepted initiatives through implementation, documenting justification and results.
  • Work with customers to achieve higher levels of efficiency through new idea proposals.
  • Develop and maintain programs that drive employee performance in a positive direction.
  • Participate in sustainability program development and administer as outlined by senior management.
  • Work with Compliance departments to ensure that the facility is actively meeting all requirements needed for certifications (BRC, AIB, FDA, etc.).
  • Assist with preparation for and completion of all audits being conducted within the facility.
  • Collaborate with safety officer to ensure that risk to employee safety is assessed and mitigated.
  • Investigate incidents and administer corrective action to employees who do not follow safety protocols.
  • Communicate new requirements effectively to all levels within the facility.
  • Validate that warehousing standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
  • Initiate and maintain a standardized cycle counting program.
  • Incorporate weekly review with supervisory and cycle counting staff to identify, document, and resolve reoccurring issues.
  • Daily reviews of inventory adjustments and communicate issues/ reasons to customers as required.
  • Assist staff with correcting all day-to-day inventory inaccuracies.
  • Manage customer physical inventories as required. Must meet or exceed customer and Sonwil shrink allowances.
  • Managing Quality hold/release, fire sale, freshness, date rotation requests as required and communicating effectively to the customer.
  • Daily review of inventory to ensure proper storage and inventory loss risk.
  • Develop a structured method for managing the communication of sensitive and/or important information to all levels of staff within the facility.
  • Ensure that the communications path has adequate ability to collect feedback from the employees.
  • Validating that all security policies and protocols are being adhered to.
  • Ensure the supervisors are performing their daily required inspections.
  • Work with sanitation to maintain cleanliness objectives for the facility.
  • Ensure that all Driver, Visitor, and Vendor access is compliant with existing policies.
  • Ensure that building and grounds maintenance meet Sonwil’s standard.
