About The Position

The Facility Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned facility sites within a multi-market portfolio. This role supports operations and maintenance that includes but not limited, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, emergency power supply systems along with, budgeting, capital planning, vendor management, compliance, emergency preparedness/response, and long term facility management strategy. The Facility Manager partners closely with location stakeholders and client contacts to ensures all properties operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations and Colliers standards. While this position is remote all candidates must reside in the Eastern Time zone preferably in Knoxville, TN.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of comprehensive facility and/or property management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain facility management teams.
  • Strong financial, budgeting, and accounting acumen.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Exceptional client service and relationship‑management abilities.
  • In‑depth knowledge of facility systems and building operations.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, software and administrative tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and grow as portfolio scope and complexity increase.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designation such as RPA, CPM, or CFM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support operation and maintenance support provided by vendor partnerships.
  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Work with and support Project Management, Corporate Security, Environmental Health and Safety, Real Estate and other state holders.
  • Govern preventative maintenance and operational programs to ensure optimal performance and reliability of building systems.
  • Oversee life‑safety systems, site safety initiatives, and energy management programs.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for staff, occupants, and visitors.
  • Support the development and management of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Support accounting functions and financial controls.
  • Support preparation of client reporting.
  • Lead vendor procurement processes, including RFPs, bid analysis, contract negotiation, and onboarding.
  • Manage vendor performance to ensure service delivery meets contractual, safety, and quality standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for owners and occupants, building strong, professional relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Colliers risk management standards and internal policies.
  • Develop and manage compliance processes to meet audit, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete client required training as assigned.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and response with building Property Management and client ESH team.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
