About The Position

The Facility Manager is responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, functionality, and safety of all equipment, buildings, grounds, and greenhouse operations at The Plant Company. This role ensures that all facility systems and production equipment operate safely and reliably, minimizing downtime and supporting a high-volume greenhouse and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is organized, process-oriented, and able to prioritize work effectively with a strong focus on safety, equipment reliability, and operational continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in facility or maintenance management within a production, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Manufacturing and Building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automated production or greenhouse systems
  • Experience working with and maintaining production equipment, machinery, or automated systems
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment and facility issues
  • Experience managing capital projects, vendors, and contractor relationships
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems (MaintainX or similar preferred)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Must pass a background check

  • Relevant Certifications (OSHA 30, FMP, CFM, SFP, PMP, Six Sigma) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all installation, repair, and maintenance activities performed by internal technicians, vendors, and contractors
  • Develop, implement, and enforce preventative maintenance programs for all facility systems and production equipment, ensuring alignment with manufacturer recommendations and warranty requirements
  • Lead troubleshooting of facility systems and equipment, ensuring accurate diagnosis, timely repair, and root cause resolution
  • Prioritize maintenance labor and resources to respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs quickly, minimizing operational downtime
  • Ensure greenhouse systems (irrigation, climate control, automation, etc.) and facility equipment are consistently operating.
  • Lead capital improvement projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management
  • Manage maintenance parts and equipment inventory, including forecasting needs, ordering, and cost control
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment history in CMMS (MaintainX)
  • Ensure all maintenance team members accurately log work orders, labor, and materials in the system
  • Use data from CMMS and maintenance activities to identify trends and improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency
  • Oversee grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, fertilization, herbicide application, snow removal, and salting
  • Ensure the facility and grounds present a safe, clean, and professional environment for employees, visitors, and customers
  • Ensure all maintenance and facility operations comply with company safety standards and applicable OSHA regulations
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards related to equipment, facilities, and grounds
  • Partner with leadership to promote a strong safety culture across the facility
