Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience required.
  • Minimum 6 years facility maintenance experience required.
  • Must be well versed in engineering subject areas (e.g. fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, static’s and dynamics, engineering materials).
  • Must possess knowledge of related subject areas.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and process validation.
  • Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
  • Ability to design and implement in own area of expertise.
  • Be involved in at least one industry interest group.
  • Has demonstrated effective supervisory skills.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
  • Facilities manager must be able to coordinate work across numerous departments for areas affected to accomplish tasks required by work orders, follow-up actions, department needs, etc.
  • Demonstrated strong organization and planning skills are vital for the successful candidate.
  • Facilities manager must be willing to be on-call 24/ 7 for any emergency that may arise at the plant related to the facility and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Manage successful completion of projects within boundaries of quality, time and budget.
  • Based on significant technical expertise, reviews and approves complex design concepts.
  • Manage the day to day operations for critical systems and facilities.
  • Provides technical direction to staff.
  • Recognized as an expert by peers and other personnel within the business.
  • Display general understanding of theories/practices of a variety of subject areas.
  • Manage all contracts and relationships with multiple facility services.
  • Manage a variety of complex issues in associated projects, plans and schedules project implementation, responsible for defining scope of work for project team.
  • Manage, identify, hire, develop and recognize technical staff; the team may include senior level engineers and technicians, provide technical direction.
  • Responsible for Pest Control and the Pest Control Program.
  • Design new or improved products or process systems.
  • Review and approve technical feasibility of complex design concepts and analysis of technologies that incorporate own area of expertise as well as multiple disciplines.
  • Review and analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
  • Recommend proposal to management for consideration and allocation of funds.
  • Responsible for preparation of project cost estimates up to multi-million dollar range.
  • Monitors all project expenditures and cost tracking.
  • Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for the staff in accomplishing and documenting projects.
  • Provides input on overall engineering department policy.
  • Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms, etc.) in order to secure project release.
  • Proactively and regularly communicate with regions and plants (directly or through marketing) to update development progress and maintain region support.
  • Direct all maintenance activities for the critical systems for the facility and all related facility issues.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Perform/lead technical reviews, investigations and process improvement projects.
  • Provide manufacturing input into integration and validation of new equipment and processes.
  • Resolves technical, material and cGMP problems that may impact project deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting assistance as needed during a deviation in the process.
  • Represent the company during FDA inspections.
  • Provide information as necessary to FDA that establishes credibility and demonstrates compliance with cGMPs.
  • The facility manager is expected to provide guidance, support, direction and leadership through positive interactions with all personnel during daily operations for the facility and grounds.
  • Systems such as: potable water and plant air and associated equipment are all supervised by the facility maintenance manager.
  • The manager is responsible for providing oversight and direction to manage routine PM’s and work orders, pest control, packing, trash dock, and laundry room cleaning documentation.
  • The facility manager will also be responsible for managing the following contracts and relationships for janitorial services, pest control services, security services, cafeteria services, laundry services, and landscaping services.
  • The Facilities manager is also responsible for day to day management of production, scheduling, staffing, material management, compliance, training and auditing activities- to meet customer requirements including deadlines and quality standards.
