About The Position
The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care. We are currently seeking a self- motivated, energetic Facility Maintenance Worker II to perform general maintenance work. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. This agency is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190. A fingerprint- supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment. This position, in Hopkins county has an approved Locality Premium of $2.88 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).
Requirements
- One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.
- Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must be 18 years of age.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the work of employees and assists the supervisor in the maintenance of buildings, ground and equipment.
- Perform janitorial duties in maintaining buildings and adjacent areas.
- Perform the duties of employees in maintaining and repairing plumbing, sewerage systems, electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Make carpentry repairs to buildings and equipment.
- Upkeep in grounds maintenance (primarily lawn mowing and trimming).
- Paint and special projects that pertain to the upkeep of buildings.
