About The Position

Responsible for maintaining DCH buildings, equipment and grounds. This role involves a variety of tasks to ensure the operational integrity and safety of the facilities. The technician will perform emergency and scheduled repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections. A key aspect of the role is ensuring the provision of reliable utilities and regulatory compliance for all buildings, equipment, and grounds. The position also requires ordering necessary parts and materials, attending scheduled classes and meetings, and completing all required logs and records. Adherence to DCH Standards, including performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards, is crucial. The technician must also comply with the Employee Handbook and DCH Behavioral Standards, fostering positive relationships and ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and employees by identifying and reducing unsafe practices and risks. The role requires the use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet, along with adherence to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Primary assignment areas may include one or more of the following: Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, locksmith, welding and/or painting.
  • Two year technical degree directly applicable to primary assignment preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in area of primary assignment preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Alabama driver’s license and be eligible for insurance coverage as a driver of company vehicle on DCH insurance policy is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and improves buildings, equipment and grounds.
  • Performs emergency repairs, scheduled repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections.
  • Ensures the provision of reliable utilities.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance of buildings, equipment and grounds.
  • Orders parts and materials.
  • Attends all scheduled classes and meetings.
  • Completes all required logs and records.
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Adheres to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.
  • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Adheres to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
