JOB OVERVIEW The Facility Farm Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring facilities and equipment operate efficiently across four farms within the assigned region. This position supports our farms in Indiana by performing preventative maintenance, basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and facility repairs across our nursery and finishing farm operations. The role is essential to maintaining operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall farm functionality while supporting safe, effective, and high-performing daily farm operations.

Requirements

Minimum of three years of maintenance experience
Valid driver’s license required
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and push at least 100 pounds.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.
Ability to work in barn environments that may include exposure to animal dander, manure, dust, odors, blood, and loud conditions.
Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional weekends and holiday work as needed.
Commitment to maintaining and exceeding industry standards for animal care and welfare.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree, trade school certification, apprenticeship training, or equivalent experience preferred, but not required
Prior electrical and welding experience highly preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical and electrical systems, including feed systems, plumbing, ventilation systems, environmental controls, and heating equipment.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance at company-owned nursery and finishing barns.
Complete all required training programs and safety certifications.
Maintain farm lanes and grounds, including pothole repair and general upkeep.
Follow all company safety procedures and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Understand and apply lockout/tagout procedures.
Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.
Maintain tractors and farm equipment.
Order maintenance supplies and maintain organized work areas.
Complete repair requests and coordinate with outside contractors when necessary.
Support additional operational needs such as pressure washing, snow removal, composting, weed trimming, weed deterrent application, loading and inspecting trucks, handling animals, and other production-related tasks.
Successfully complete Step 1 of the Animal Care Specialist Plan and the Maintenance Step Plan.
Meet all bio-security requirements as outlined by Animal Care policy/ procedure.
Consistent and reliable adherence to Animal Welfare requirements and Code of Conduct.

Complete all other tasks assigned.
