The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The Facility Maintenance Supervisor II will assist the Chief Facility Maintenance Officer with the daily management of maintenance operations at an MDTA facility. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted flow of traffic at the facility, ensure that contractual obligations are met by vendors, and maintain physical and fixed asset inventory. This is maintenance work which is performed either outdoors under all weather conditions or inside an MDOT building. On some assignments, employees may be required to supervise work located at high elevations, or in cramped quarters in buildings or underground. Employees in this class are considered essential employees and are subject to call-in twenty-four hours a day, as may be required in order to maintain continuous and safe operation of a facility. Employees may be required to work rotating shift work, to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees in this classification receive direct supervision from the Chief Facility Maintenance Officer or other designated official. The current vacancies exist at the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge in Annapolis, MD and Baltimore Harbor Tunnel located in Baltimore, MD. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies at other facilities throughout the MDTA.
