Facility Maintenance Helper
About The Position
The Facility Maintenance Helper assists with facility maintenance at U-Haul Moving Centers, Storage Centers, and other U-Haul facilities within a geographical area. The role involves general maintenance, installation, repair, service, and cleanup work, as well as assisting skilled workers when needed. The position is located at 3133 E Parham Rd, Henrico, Virginia 23228, and pays $15.50 to $17.50 per hour. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. U-Haul offers paid working interviews and hiring and certification bonuses. The work may involve moderate risks or discomforts, including working around moving machinery, fumes, or irritant chemicals, and may require protective gear. U-Haul states that, consistent with applicable state law, it will not hire or re-hire nicotine product users in Virginia and several other states.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, assisted or unassisted.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Use a variety of hand and power tools effectively.
- Perform general maintenance, installation, repair, and service.
- Perform work involving nailing, sawing, cutting, painting, and basic facility maintenance.
- Clean up renovation sites.
- Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist skilled workers in performing duties when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles while adhering to applicable local, state, and federal vehicle regulations.
