We are currently looking for a motivated team-oriented individual to join our Operations team in Burlington, Ontario as a Facility Maintenance Coordinator! Under the direction of the Regional Operations Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator will play a key role in developing and implementing improved equipment reliability and maintenance systems. You will oversee the day-to-day operating, maintenance and environmental compliance while ensuring that the facility operates in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner and be responsible for the coordination and the supervision of the work of contractors on site in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant maintenance and facilities experience in an operations environment.
  • Experience with implementation of maintenance systems.
  • Strong maintenance/equipment background. Including hands-on experience with Preventative Maintenance programs, maintenance tactics and critical spare parts inventories.
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance and distribution operations.
  • Ability to manage projects within a budget.
  • Chemical operations experience in the handling of bulk chemicals.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, able to engage, influence team and external partners.
  • Completed post-secondary level education in related field. Preference given to chemical or mechanical.
  • Proven communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in managing and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Emergency response training /incident command experience.
  • Available to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
  • Proven knowledge and familiarity with the following standards, but not limited to: OHSA, WSIA, ESA, CSA, Ontario Fire Code, HRA, BRCS, GMP, ISO, COR.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement programs and standards such as LEAN and Kaizen is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance activities for the Burlington Branch and support for Quadra Oakville.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize and/or eliminate impact to operations.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance program.
  • Responsible for creating, tracking and managing maintenance work orders.
  • Ensure maintenance contractors are qualified by Quadra, and all contractors receive site orientations.
  • Supervise contractors and external consultants for all maintenance activities.
  • Under the direction of the Regional Operations Manager, propose, plan and manage capital projects for maintenance and site improvements.
  • Investigate equipment failures/issues, determine root causes and provide corrective actions.
  • Oversee and organize maintenance of the facility, personally performing maintenance tasks.
  • Recommend equipment and process improvements.
  • Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities and lead/implement projects to improve Safety, Efficiencies and Costs.
  • Responsible for branch purchasing as it relates to security, cleaning, maintenance, renovations, suppliers, etc.
  • Ensure all Safety Cases, including incident/accident reports relating to the branch areas of responsibility are responded to promptly, complete with an an investigation and actions to eliminate the chance of repeats.
  • Involvement in the Branch’s Emergency Response system, including site security, customers after-hour calls and chemical spill response as per policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties in operations as assigned by the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Maintain a safety culture amongst all employees while assisting the Regional Operations Manager with the improvement of the branch safety culture and performance and overseeing the safe handling of chemical products.
  • Evolving our housekeeping best practices results in a clean/safe facility.
  • Regular safety/compliance audits are performed, and defects noted/corrected.
  • Ensure all health, safety and environmental incidents are recorded, complete with an analysis as to the root cause and the actions taken to ensure there are no repeats.
  • Member of the Local Emergency Response Committee, including periodic drills, tabletop exercises, training, and information sessions to ensure all understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Responsible for ensuring site inspections for new bulk customers, and re-audit where necessary, to ensure they comply with Responsible Distribution code of practice as well as EH&S.
  • Work with local emergency responders and service providers to ensure alignment with Quadra’s safety vision and local requirements.
