About The Position

The City of Monticello is currently accepting applications for part-time Facility Leads to work nights and weekends at the Monticello Community Center. This position provides customer service to guests and work direction to part-time Community Center staff in the manager's absence. All Community Center employees receive a free single membership to the facility and are eligible for premium pay ($1-$3/hr) depending on hours worked.

Requirements

  • One year of customer service and cash handing experience.
  • One year of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to the community center’s guests and staff.
  • Knowledge of the community center’s recreational software program and Microsoft Office program.
  • Considerable knowledge of the community center’s programs, activities and policies.
  • Significant knowledge of cash register operation, cash handling procedures and daily reconciliation of receipts.
  • Ability to provide work direction to part-time staff and monitor facility operations.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions and dealing with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written direction.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds from the floor.
  • Ability stand, walk, bend, twist, and occasionally kneel to perform the normal duties of the position.
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate the computer, cash register, and other equipment and tools.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality customer service to all members and guests visiting or using the services of the community center, including: member and guest check-in, membership sales, reservation assistance, and general information and assistance as assigned or apparent.
  • Addresses all customer concerns, staffing issues, incident reporting, and any other issue requiring a supervisor’s attention.
  • Provides work direction to staff at all times during the work shift. This work direction includes, but is not limited to, ensuring appropriate shift coverage, employee break coordination, clock out approval and any other issues that may arise.
  • Provides or recommends additional training needs for part-time staff, reports ongoing performance problems or significant performance issues to MCC managers.
  • Notifies maintenance/custodial staff of any cleaning or maintenance needs.
  • Performs regular building security checks to ensure appropriate use of the facility.
  • Oversees the concessions operation including food preparation, sales, and cleaning.
  • Ensures the accurate operation of all financial transactions, cash handing policies, and opening/closing reconciliation procedures.
  • Assists in the training of part-time guest service and supervised play staff.
  • May be assigned to coordinate birthday parties or other reservations.
  • Answers telephones according to policy, provides information and assistance to callers and/or transfers to appropriate voicemail.
  • Provides facility tours to potential members and renters.
  • Assists with reservation services and daily rental needs.
  • Knowledge of the community center’s software program and Microsoft Office software.
  • Completes or delegates cleaning tasks at the front desk, concessions, and adjacent hallway.
  • Oversees the rentals of equipment including storage and inventory needs.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
