About The Position

As a Facility & Grounds Officer, you will support the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the Penola Multi-Purpose Service, helping ensure the facility and surrounding grounds remain safe, functional and well maintained. Your duties will include general facility maintenance across the interior and exterior of the health unit, including minor repairs, painting, rubbish collection and basic carpentry, plumbing and mechanical tasks. You will also assist with grounds maintenance such as mowing, watering, raking, pruning and other general gardening activities. Working as part of the Penola MPS team, you will also coordinate servicing and repairs to vehicles and equipment and assist with the operation of machinery and equipment as required.

Requirements

  • Experience in building and grounds maintenance
  • Ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, meet deadlines and work across various settings with different levels of staff
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, written and numeracy skills
  • Ability to relate to people from different cultures, backgrounds and circumstances
  • Basic knowledge of safe working conditions, customer service principles and computer packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Current driver’s licence and be willing to drive
  • Flexible and willing to participate in a seven-day roster working varied hours and shifts across different settings
  • A current National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required
  • A satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening Check is required
  • Immunisation Risk for this position is – Category B
  • Must comply with SA Health Services policy on vaccine preventable disease
