About The Position

The Facility & Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of Coffee Cup Travel Plaza facilities and surrounding property. This position performs preventative maintenance, minor repairs, groundskeeping, custodial duties, and exterior property maintenance while helping ensure an exceptional experience for every guest. This position works throughout the travel plaza, truck service center, parking areas, landscaping, dog park, and other company property. Team members should enjoy working both indoors and outdoors in all seasons and be comfortable performing a wide variety of maintenance, groundskeeping, and cleaning responsibilities. This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, custodial services, construction, landscaping, or grounds maintenance preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to safely operate lawn care and groundskeeping equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with guests, vendors, and team members.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Frequent standing and walking for 8 to 12 hour shifts.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, and twisting.
  • Working on ladders and elevated surfaces.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Pushing or moving equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Operating maintenance equipment, power tools, lawn equipment, and cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs throughout the facility.
  • Complete basic electrical repairs including replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, cords, and similar components.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs including unclogging drains, repairing faucets, replacing fixtures, and addressing minor leaks.
  • Repair and maintain doors, shelving, fixtures, equipment, and other building components.
  • Assist with pump and fuel equipment maintenance when appropriate.
  • Order maintenance parts and maintain maintenance records as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and safe exterior property.
  • Pick up trash throughout parking lots, sidewalks, fuel islands, landscaping, and surrounding grounds.
  • Maintain the front entrance and exterior appearance of the travel plaza.
  • Maintain the company dog park, including emptying waste stations, cleaning the area, and ensuring a welcoming appearance for guests.
  • Perform seasonal landscaping and groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, edging, watering, weed removal, leaf cleanup, and general landscape upkeep.
  • Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter weather.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Truck Service Center property, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
  • Operate lawn care, snow removal, and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Clean and sanitize guest restrooms and showers as needed.
  • Clean hallways, entrances, stairways, employee areas, break rooms, lobbies, parking lots, and other assigned spaces.
  • Empty trash receptacles throughout the property.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment.
  • Assist with deep cleaning projects and pressure washing as assigned.
  • Assist the merchandising team with unloading deliveries and organizing back stock areas.
  • Assist food service departments with unloading deliveries and organizing freezer and cooler storage while maintaining proper First In, First Out (FIFO) food rotation.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from store leadership.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by identifying and reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business operations.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to every guest, vendor, and fellow team member.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that reflects Coffee Cup's commitment to excellence.
  • Represent Coffee Cup Travel Plazas with professionalism and a positive attitude.

  • Starting Pay: $17.50 to $20.00 per hour , depending on experience
