About The Position

The General Maintenance Engineer III assists to ensure equipment, physical plant, and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels. This role involves performing general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and hardware. The engineer will also monitor and maintain fire alarm, life safety, sprinkler, and emergency power systems, respond to maintenance requests and emergencies, conduct routine inspections, and identify opportunities for energy conservation. Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition, following safety procedures, and communicating effectively with supervisors are also key responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned by the leadership team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus 2 years technical training or 2 -4 years of college.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Must have an unexpired and valid driver's license with no recent violations.
  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced plumbing experience a plus.
  • Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and hardware repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, repairing fixtures, servicing AC units and lighting).
  • Monitor, test, and maintain fire alarm, life safety, sprinkler, and emergency power systems; respond appropriately to related emergencies.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations to ensure guest and associate safety and minimize operational disruption.
  • Conduct routine inspections, read meters and gauges, and maintain accurate daily logs of work performed and system readings.
  • Identify and report opportunities for energy conservation and efficient utility usage.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and engineering work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures and proactively correct hazardous conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding work orders, materials, and project updates; assist with training team members as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
