About The Position

Our site in Burnet, TX is seeking a Facility Engineer Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration. The Facility Engineer Co-op supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical facility systems that enable safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. Working closely with Facilities Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, EHS, and Operations teams, the co-op will gain hands-on experience with utility systems, reliability engineering, capital projects, energy management, and preventive maintenance programs within a high-tech manufacturing environment. This position provides practical engineering experience while contributing to initiatives that improve system performance, equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in facilities engineering, utility systems, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple assignments independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Power BI, CMMS systems, or engineering project work is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility utility systems including HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, process exhaust, and building systems.
  • Assist Facilities Engineers with troubleshooting equipment and utility issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Support capital and facility improvement projects by developing project documentation, coordinating with contractors, tracking progress, and assisting with commissioning activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and report utility and equipment performance data using Excel, Power BI, or other analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, and Engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and update engineering drawings, procedures, maintenance documentation, and standard work instructions.
