About The Position

Genex Systems is seeking a Facility Coordinator to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. This position reports directly to the Integrated Services Center Manager. The role serves as the primary point of contact for all facility-related matters, including safety and environmental concerns such as chemical tracking. Responsibilities encompass maintenance, procedures, inspections, and annual training related to facility infrastructure and installed electrical or mechanical machinery. This role may cover one or multiple buildings and involves managing specialized equipment like electrical power distribution, HVAC systems, clean rooms, chill water systems, and freezers. The coordinator must communicate and schedule required work to minimize disruptions to the Government's operations. Daily walk-throughs and inspections are conducted to ensure proper functioning of the facility and its equipment. The position involves maintaining and drafting alarm response procedures for facility equipment. Facility Coordinators assess issues within the facility using their knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, interpret blueprints and working drawings, and approve changes to them. They coordinate repairs or adjustments for discrepancies and equipment failures. This role also includes maintaining electrical Lockout/Tag out procedures, logs, and tags, as well as other facility documentation like the Facility Resume. Frequent interaction with building occupants and customer management is expected, requiring a customer-friendly demeanor and the ability to work in a potentially stressful environment. The coordinator will work closely with building occupants to address their concerns promptly and efficiently, providing weekly reports on outstanding facility issues that might affect their research, such as new projects or maintenance repair statuses.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines such as facilities or maintenance preferred, and six (6) years of related experience.
  • Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.
  • Position requires comprehensive knowledge of programs gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty.
  • Current U.S. Driver’s License (Read ID required)
  • Ability to develop and manipulate MS Excel spreadsheets or equivalent.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids.
  • Should be able to use computing technology for problem analysis and solutions.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be physically capable of walking and climbing over rough terrain and working at elevated heights and confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MAXIMO or other (Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS))
  • Research ability using the Internet, manufacturer and other sources are desired.
  • Experience with MS Project preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or managing electrical and mechanical systems and HVAC knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily walk-throughs and various inspections to ensure the facility and its equipment are functioning properly.
  • Maintain library of, and draft new as appropriate, alarm response procedures for facility equipment.
  • Provide an initial assessment of issues in the facility using working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and working drawings and serve as an approval source for changes made to these drawings.
  • Coordinate discrepancies and equipment failures with responsible parties for repair or adjustment.
  • Maintain the electrical Lockout/Tag out procedures, log, and tags for the facility as well as other facility documentation.
  • Interface frequently with building occupants and customer organizational management.
  • Provide customer organization with weekly reports and outstanding facility concerns that may impact their Research.
  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.
  • Work in a team atmosphere.
  • Put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ensure grooming and dress are appropriate for the position and do not impose a safety/risk hazard.
  • Cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client organization.
  • Exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed.
