Facility Attendant
About The Position
Merakey is seeking a Facility Attendant to join their team at a program in Philadelphia, PA, specifically in Kensington. This role is part of the Fresh Start transitional housing program, which provides 24/7 support to Veterans and individuals with a history of homelessness, chemical dependency, and behavioral health issues. The program operates over 150 beds across 12 locations in Philadelphia and partners with the Philadelphia VA Medical Centers and Philadelphia’s Office of Addiction Services. The Facility Attendant will monitor residents' behavior, ensure a safe and harassment-free atmosphere conducive to recovery, and perform building checks for cleanliness and safety. Responsibilities also include incident reporting, monitoring residents during medication intake, and overseeing assigned chores. The position requires completing assigned training within mandated time frames.
Requirements
- Effective communication skills
- 18 years old minimum required
Nice To Haves
- High School or GED preferred
- Previous experience working with VA population preferred
- Prior experience in Residential or Drug and Alcohol treatment setting is preferred
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents' behavior.
- Ensure a safe, harassment-free atmosphere conducive to recovery.
- Perform building checks for cleanliness and safety (this includes all rooms).
- Write incident reports, reporting immediately to supervisor, or program manager and following procedures as stated in Merakey policy.
- Monitor residents while they take their prescribed medication, report all medication monitoring issues to immediate supervisor and following Merakey incident report policy.
- Monitor assigned chores (if applicable) and ensure that general inspections (GI's) are done properly.
- Complete assigned training within mandated time frames.
