About The Position

The Facility Attendant helps maintain clean, safe, organized, and event-ready buildings, grounds, and event spaces at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. The role supports daily operations and special events and contributes directly to guest experience, safety, and the presentation of the organization. Duties include cleaning facilities, helping prepare events, assisting guests, completing operational tasks, and supporting sustainability practices. The position is part-time, scheduled for less than 25 hours per week, approximately three shifts per week, including every other weekend. Shifts run from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, including offices, public spaces, grounds, event areas, and greenhouses. Conditions may include varying weather, noise, cleaning chemicals, operational hazards, and high-traffic or event-driven settings. New hires must complete a background check.

Requirements

Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Basic computer skills, including email, schedules, and timekeeping.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks throughout each shift.
Ability to lift and move items regularly up to 20 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally over 100 pounds.
Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and occasionally use a ladder.
Ability to safely handle equipment and materials while maintaining awareness of surroundings and safety protocols.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, and precipitation, and in greenhouse environments.
Ability to work in settings involving noise, cleaning chemicals, operational hazards, and high-traffic or event-driven activity.
Completion of a background check as part of onboarding.
