About The Position

The City of Lynnwood is seeking a Facilities Worker I to join the Public Works team! The Facilities Worker I performs maintenance and repair work within and around City buildings under general or close supervision depending on the work assignment. Responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance and repair of facilities, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, and cleaning City facilities.

Requirements

  • 1 (one) year of related experience in building construction or maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of various hand and power tools
  • Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the City insurance company
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • General knowledge of building maintenance and repair
  • General knowledge of cleaning compounds, disinfectants, chlorine, acids and other hazardous chemicals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook
  • Ability to bend at waist, lift, crawl, climb, carry, push, and pull cleaning equipment, move furniture and objects weighing up to 100 pounds, reach overhead and climb ladders
  • Ability to read written and numerical materials
  • Ability to exchange information
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate equipment, manual and power tools
  • Ability to maneuver over rough, uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces
  • Ability to occasionally work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to work at heights

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance, repair, and custodial duties within and around City buildings.
  • Assist in maintaining mechanical systems in various City buildings.
  • Inspect, maintain, and assist in the repair of building fixtures and equipment to ensure that they are safe and in proper working order.
  • Maintain paper or electronic log of all maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the swimming pool and spa including mechanical filtration system, boiler, and related equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC and other mechanical building equipment as assigned.
  • Assist with mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs and/or major renovations for City buildings as assigned.
  • Perform pressure washing and roof cleaning duties.
  • Facility set up and tear down/clean up before and after City meetings and events.
  • Perform maintenance on door closers and door locks Citywide.
  • Perform custodial duties in City buildings as needed.
  • Communicate regularly throughout the day regarding work status with Leads and Supervisor.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
