About The Position

The Facilities Worker I independently performs a variety of semi-skilled facilities and systems maintenance functions as well as works under the direction of journey-level crafts worker. A significant portion of the assigned work will involve roof maintenance and hardscape repairs. Incumbent may also serve in a supporting role of other work assigned to the Multicraft shop that does not require the oversight of a journey-level crafts worker.

Requirements

Working knowledge of common terminology, methods, practices, tools, and procedures related to building and facilities services, maintenance, and repair, or a base knowledge of a building/construction or mechanical trade.
Ability to perform proficiently a variety of semi-skilled facilities maintenance and repair tasks.
Ability to operate all applicable tools, equipment, and systems.
Ability to follow standard written instructions and procedures.
Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the position.
Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
Ability to learn maintenance and repair functions.
Demonstrated ability to work outdoors and on rooftops conducting maintenance and repairs.
Knowledge and experience with remodel tear-down and set-up.
Experience making simple interior and exterior repairs of buildings and furniture.
Ability to maintain records and retrieve data using record-keeping systems.
Ability to prepare standard reports.
Ability to evaluate and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus population.

Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.
Satisfactory completion of the background check process.
Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Ability and willingness to perform asbestos, lead, and mold abatement if given the proper training.
Ability to pass appropriate OSFM certification exams for Fire Extinguisher inspections.
