About The Position

The Facilities Worker I independently performs a variety of semi-skilled facilities and systems maintenance functions as well as works under the direction of journey-level crafts worker. A significant portion of the assigned work will involve roof maintenance and hardscape repairs. Incumbent may also serve in a supporting role of other work assigned to the Multicraft shop that does not require the oversight of a journey-level crafts worker.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of common terminology, methods, practices, tools, and procedures related to building and facilities services, maintenance, and repair, or a base knowledge of a building/construction or mechanical trade.
  • Ability to perform proficiently a variety of semi-skilled facilities maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to operate all applicable tools, equipment, and systems.
  • Ability to follow standard written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to learn maintenance and repair functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work outdoors and on rooftops conducting maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge and experience with remodel tear-down and set-up.
  • Experience making simple interior and exterior repairs of buildings and furniture.
  • Ability to maintain records and retrieve data using record-keeping systems.
  • Ability to prepare standard reports.
  • Ability to evaluate and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus population.
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.
  • Satisfactory completion of the background check process.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability and willingness to perform asbestos, lead, and mold abatement if given the proper training.
  • Ability to pass appropriate OSFM certification exams for Fire Extinguisher inspections.
