The Facilities Utility Support Technician focused primarily on sanitation and basic facility upkeep, with limited maintenance responsibilities. This position supports safe, clean, and reliable operations by performing routine sanitation and assisting the maintenance team with basic preventive tasks under supervision.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks reliably.
  • Basic mechanical awareness and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, cleaning equipment, and basic facility tools.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and perform physically active work.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Wear required PPE and safely handle cleaning chemicals and basic tools.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of experience in sanitation, facilities, or industrial support roles preferred.
  • Maintenance experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing or food-related environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance personnel with routine preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, hose assembly, and visual inspections.
  • Perform basic facility upkeep tasks including replacing light bulbs, tightening fittings, and minor adjustments.
  • Support maintenance activities by gathering tools, parts, and materials as directed.
  • Report equipment issues, abnormal conditions, or safety concerns to maintenance leadership.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools.
  • Enter simple work requests or completion notes in the CMMS system as assigned.
  • Perform routine and deep sanitation of production areas, equipment exteriors, offices, locker rooms, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean food-handling areas and break rooms in accordance with sanitation schedules and hygiene standards.
  • Safely handle, prepare, and store approved cleaning chemicals and sanitation tools.
  • Perform preventive sanitation tasks to reduce contamination risks and support audit readiness.
  • Assist with wastewater draining, waste handling, and coordination with sanitation vendors.
  • Monitor sanitation conditions and immediately report or correct deficiencies.
  • Follow all company safety rules, SOPs, and regulatory requirements including FDA, SQF, OSHA, and GMP standards.
  • Wear required PPE and safely handle cleaning chemicals and basic tools.
  • Support operational efficiency by maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe facility.
  • Work independently or as part of a team; follow direction from supervisors and leads.
  • Participate in maintaining audit readiness and compliance standards across the facility.
  • Support the company and department in achieving established goals.
