About The Position

The Facility Technician's primary responsibility will be maintaining, repairing, and operating facilities infrastructure including HVAC, Ammonia System, Water Heaters, Compressors, Wastewater System, and soft water systems and electrical generators in support of manufacturing operations. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing defective parts to restore operations with minimum downtime. The technician will also support and maintain manufacturing, production, and utility equipment to meet product quality and production schedule requirements. This position is key to ongoing preventive maintenance and management of all infrastructure systems and building equipment, including steam boilers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The position participates in rotating "On Call" duties for after-hours facilities emergencies and refrigeration operating temperature alarms to ensure product quality. The facility technician also has leadership responsibilities, guiding daily activities and assisting management with specific tasks like plant security and key control. Their experience allows them to handle assignments with little supervision and assist others.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, utilities, or facilities
  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems (480VAC–24VDC)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Experience using a CMMS (SAP, RedZone, or similar)
  • Ability to work in extreme environments (cold storage, boiler rooms)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food manufacturing or regulated environments
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience (RETA CARO/CIRO preferred)
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Experience with CO₂ and nitrogen systems
  • Background in wastewater treatment operations
  • Experience with low voltage installation and controls troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily rounds on compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Support PSM/RMP compliance (OSHA/EPA).
  • Respond to ammonia alarms and assist with leak response protocols.
  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment systems.
  • Conduct water chemistry testing and manage chemical dosing.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC systems (ventilation, A/C, make-up air units).
  • Operate hot water systems, and compressed air systems.
  • Ensure all utility systems operate within safe and efficient parameters.
  • Perform general facility repairs (mechanical, structural, minor electrical).
  • Maintain dock plates, fast track doors, dock equipment, and building systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Install and troubleshoot sensors, wiring, and control panels.
  • Work with three-phase electrical systems and control voltages (480VAC–24VDC).
  • Assist with PLC-controlled systems and basic controls troubleshooting.
  • Operate and maintain CO₂ and nitrogen supply systems.
  • Troubleshoot regulators, piping, and gas-related equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with compressed gas safety standards.
