About The Position

Dominion Energy's Facilities group is looking for a Facilities Technician I or a Facilities Technician II to work in the Corporate Facilities Operations and Maintenance Group at their Knolls Campus in Glen Allen, VA. This position will perform building maintenance related tasks at the Knolls Campus, specifically in buildings Knolls 1 & 3. The role involves performing preventative maintenance, repair, and customer request work orders independently to ensure optimal building and equipment performance. The technician will test, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems independently. Requirements

  • 1+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade (Facilities Technician I).
  • 5+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems (Facilities Technician I).
  • Expert knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and design principals (Facilities Technician I).
  • Knowledge of engineering and design principals (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations (Facilities Technician I).
  • Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic Knowledge of federal, state, and local code requirements (Facilities Technician I).

  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems with guidance from senior Technicians (Facilities Technician I).

  • Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.

  • Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations to leadership (Facilities Technician II).
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain multiple facilities.
  • Ability to work overtime and respond to afterhours emergencies when necessary.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with peers, internal customers, and external vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in the use of technology such as personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
  • Valid driver's license (Facilities Technician I & II).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree with a focus in Technology, Construction, or engineering.
  • Completion of a formal HVAC or Electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Type I, II, & III (Universal) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Facilities Tech I).
  • Journeyman HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR (Facilities Tech II).
  • Master HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR (Facilities Tech II).
  • Type I, II, & III (Universal) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Facilities Tech II).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and customer request work orders independently to ensure buildings & equipment operate at optimal performance.

  • Manage external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements (Facilities Technician I & II).
  • Complete or assist in testing, inspecting, and maintaining environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations (Facilities Technician I & II).
  • Provide technical guidance and training to peers regarding equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs (Facilities Technician II).
  • Manage small O&M or capital improvement projects (Facilities Technician II).
  • Evaluate building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations (Facilities Technician II).
