About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking a Facilities Technician I or II to join their Corporate Facilities Operations and Maintenance Group at the Knolls Campus in Glen Allen, VA. This role will perform building maintenance tasks, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and handling customer requests to ensure optimal building and equipment performance. The position involves testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems independently. Specific additional responsibilities vary between the I and II levels, with the II level including providing technical guidance, managing projects, and overseeing vendors more extensively.

Requirements

  • Facilities Technician I: 1+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade.
  • Facilities Technician II: 5+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade.
  • Basic knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems (Facilities Technician I).
  • Expert knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and design principals (Facilities Technician I).
  • Knowledge of engineering and design principals (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations (Facilities Technician I).
  • Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic Knowledge of federal, state, and local code requirements (Facilities Technician I).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in the use of technology such as personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
  • Valid driver's license (Required for both levels).
  • Journeyman HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR (Required for Facilities Technician II).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree with a focus in Technology, Construction, or engineering.
  • Completion of a formal HVAC or Electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Type I, II, & III (Universal) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Preferred for Facilities Technician I).
  • Master HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR (Preferred for Facilities Technician II).
  • Type I, II, & III (Universal) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Preferred for Facilities Technician II).

Responsibilities

  • Perform building maintenance related tasks at the Knolls Campus, currently buildings Knolls 1 & 3.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and customer request work orders independently to ensure buildings & equipment operate at optimal performance.
  • Test, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems independently.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Assists with evaluating building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations (Facilities Technician I).
  • Manages external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements (Facilities Technician I & II).
  • Completes or assists in testing, inspecting, and maintaining environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations (Facilities Technician I & II).
  • Provides technical guidance and training to peers regarding equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs (Facilities Technician II).
  • Evaluates building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations (Facilities Technician II).
  • Manages small O&M or capital improvement projects (Facilities Technician II).
