Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital Partnership with Select Medical is seeking a full-time Facilities Technician. This role involves performing general mechanical and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and optimal functioning of the hospital's physical plant and equipment. The Facilities Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the hospital environment, directly impacting patient and employee safety and experience. Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance, repair, and safety procedures required.
  • Current and valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general mechanical and preventive tasks.
  • Inspects, services, repairs, and overhauls physical plant equipment as directed, ensuring patient and employee safety.
  • Enhances the patient/employee experience by maintaining and improving the environment.
  • Assists with maintenance, monitoring, and preventive maintenance on equipment including refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup electrical systems, and hot water systems.
  • Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings and makes adjustments.
  • Analyzes the operation of various systems, determines the cause of problems/malfunctions, and takes corrective action.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing/piping/tubing; wires single and three-phase motors.
  • Replaces bearings in all types of motors; replaces seals on pumps; installs and repairs piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls.
  • Assists other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical controls, switching, and motor controls.
  • Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to secondary electrical circuits, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, utility, and refrigeration systems.
  • Monitors operation, repairs, and maintains refrigeration, water cooling, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating, and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings as necessary.
  • Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
