About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking to fill three (3) positions for Facilities Technician I or II, depending on qualifications and experience, to support the NOVA Area. These roles are part of the Facilities Critical Infrastructure Group and will be based in Northern Virginia. The successful candidates will be responsible for performing building maintenance tasks at various facilities including Substations, Microwave Towers, POP sites, and Solar Facilities across southwestern and south-central operating territories. Duties involve independently performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and addressing customer work orders to ensure optimal building and equipment performance. This includes testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire systems, and emergency standby power systems. Additional responsibilities vary based on the technician level.

Requirements

  • Facilities Technician I: 1+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade.
  • Facilities Technician II: 5+ years of directly related experience in Facilities Maintenance, Construction, or relevant trade.
  • Basic knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems (Facilities Technician I).
  • Expert knowledge of Building Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire systems (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and design principals (Facilities Technician I).
  • Knowledge of engineering and design principals (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations (Facilities Technician I).
  • Knowledge of environmental & life safety compliance regulations (Facilities Technician II).
  • Basic Knowledge of federal, state, and local code requirements (Facilities Technician I).

  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems with guidance from senior Technicians (Facilities Technician I).

  • Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations to leadership with guidance from senior Technicians (Facilities Technician I).
  • Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations to leadership (Facilities Technician II).
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain multiple facilities across a large geographic territory.
  • Ability to work overtime and respond to afterhours emergencies when necessary.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with peers, internal customers, and external vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in the use of technology such as personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license (Required for both levels).
  • Journeyman HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR (Facilities Technician II Required).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree with a focus in Technology, Construction, or engineering.
  • Completion of a formal HVAC or Electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Type I, II, & III (Universal) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Facilities Tech I Preferred).
  • Master HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR (Facilities Tech II Preferred).
  • Type I, II, & III (Universal) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Facilities Tech II Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform building maintenance related tasks at Substations, Microwave Towers, POP sites, & Solar Facilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and customer request work orders independently to ensure buildings & equipment operate at optimal performance.
  • Test, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire systems, and emergency standby power systems independently.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Assist with evaluating building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations (Facilities Technician I).
  • Manage external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements (Facilities Technician I & II).
  • Complete or assist in testing, inspecting, and maintaining environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations (Facilities Technician I & II).
  • Provide technical guidance and training to peers regarding equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs (Facilities Technician II).
  • Manage small O&M or capital improvement projects (Facilities Technician II).
  • Evaluate building and equipment conditions to provide leadership with repair solutions or improvement recommendations (Facilities Technician II).
